mesmerized by rhythm

Meanderers on busy streets see things others don't see. At their slow pace they can see and feel the rhythm of passers by, catching glimpses of conversation and smelling wiffs of perfume or salty body odour. Walking at a leisurely pace while most of everyone else is walking briskly can cause irritation in some of the brisk-walkers, but little can dispel the joy these saunterers feel as they peruse the finite moments of life. This slow and steady pace can also help the walker be more at peace, for it indicates a lack of pressure and it shows there is no fixed time limit even if there is one further along.

For some this slow and steady pace need not be achieved by walking, but can be acheived by slowing down the passing moments of their lives. It is these people who appear to be most serene in moments of turmoil.

Be slow and steady.

I should! I've always been a brisk-outta-my-way!-walker. Comes from being a sales rep and racing parking meters I guess...
Thanks for the perspective--being a saunterer sounds quite romantic now. :)

I am the definition of slow and steady, when it comes to walking. Rally is always trying to get me to hurry up, but I just like walking slow, especilly if there's no reason to hurry. . .

It's probably all because my shoes hurt my feet, ordinarily. . .

This is deep Phil. I've been admiring and enjoying this place since you came by mine.

Phoenix - I don't think it is a problem to be brisk most of the time, I just think it is important to occasionally take it slow. I've always thought that brisk walkers/movers/thinkers can miss something a slower moving/thinking/walking person would.

phoe - you specified you are slow when it comes to walking - how about creativity, home decorating, writing, playing...

MNM, thanks!

I find when I walk slowly, I feel as if I'm being watched... but then you look around, and everyone is oblivious to the fact that you're watching them. And then I just feel alone.

I don't necessarily think I am fast at anything I enjoy. I take my time, and explore options. If I work fast it will be over.

Where I am fast is when it comes to things I DON'T like. Like house cleaning. I go in and do a 2 hour attack on the mess, and then it's all done.

I am also fast at grocery shopping because I hate the crowds.
