steps
I was climing the steps today in my building and I was immediately behind two people who took their steps very differently.
One was practically stomping with each step gained making a loud noise. The other placed his feet carefully, noiselessly and gently with each step.
As expressed in a previous post I am by far more of the latter as I always attempt to move silently. It seems to me to be a waste of energy to produce all of that noise while walking.
When you climb a staircase, do you plant your feet with force, ignoring any sound that is produced, or do you place your feet gently?

I can't stand walking up steps--I like to take them 2 at a time. I think this is a leftover habit from going to a high school where my class was always on the 4th floor.
I'm always amazed at how the smallest sized people can make the loudest noise while they take the stairs.
I usually run up them. Not long ago I ran up 10 flights to see my dad in hospital and nearly had a coronary in the process.
Yes I know I could have taken the lift but where's the challenge in that?
