moved
Well, the move was successful, nothing broken except for a wheel on the training wheel of a kids bicycle. Problem was their truck wasn't big enough, so that had to go back to do a second trip.
We had tonnes of help over the weekend, thanks to T&P, M&J, C&G&O, R&D, C&D and AMC.
This meant that we got a whole lot more unpacking done in this first weekend than we could have otherwise. We pulled up the carpet in one room and had a few other bags of garbage that one of these friendly helpers had brought to the street over the weekend. At around 2:00AM today the snow storm started and we had about 12cm's of snow already on the ground by the time I got out at 5:30AM to shovel the driveway. The garbage bags and boxes had been completely covered. I finished at 6:30, came in showered, had breakfast and helped to get the kids ready, then my wife and I went back out to shovel the driveway again since another 5cm's had fallen. For those of you who don't get volumes of snow like this, it is significantly easier to shovel snow more often at lower amounts than all at once in a large amount. So while we're shoveling we see the garbage truck starting to head down the street, so we dig out from under all of the snow the bags and boxes that had been buried, and just in time for the truck.
I'll be going home at lunch to shovel the driveway again since we are getting another 15cm's of snow during the day today.
We still have quite a few boxes left to unpack, but we're holding off on those until we get a few preliminary renovations done. We had a guy in to install hardwood strip flooring in two rooms and he couldn't quite finish them both over the weekend, so he is coming back today. Following that we have some painting to do.

moving is so stressful. glad you survived.
Man, all I had to do was move CUBICLES and it was a debacle... Week by week, I've been throwing out old stuff so that when I eventually move out, there'll be as little hassle as possible. I guess with kids it's different 'cos you have all their toys and stuff. Hope the move was as stressless as possible; good you had lots of help.
