I think that he is waiting for the meeting to start.
I do the same thing, when I'm waiting for a meeting to start, I imagine I'm in a lush forest far far away from the hustle and bustle of the working world.

He's an alien beamed down from the mothership only the coordinates are wrong so he has landed in the forest and not in the world environmental conference as intended. Oh noes now he won't be able to save the world and we're all going to die!!!!
