mechanically disinclined towards eggplant

Yet again I am the non-winner of the 649 lottery jackpot. I did, however, from my 10$ spent, win 15$, so that's not too shabby.

Tomorrow promises to be a Friday.

I have been reading The Oil Drum, ROE2, Googling Peak Oil and other things like it. I am leaning towards emptying out my retirement fund as a capital payment on my house and stop investing for my retirement and put that money on my house. The strongest recommendations of those who frequent these websites are to:
1. get out of debt
2. start growing food
3. build a community

#1 is the personal side to protect yourself from what will happen when you lose your job.
#2 is in the present time mostly to gain experience growing food so that in the longer term you have some really needed experience for when food transportation stops.
#3 is to build links with other people who are also aware of peak oil, climate destabilization and all of the other peaks. The more people in that community the better as larger communities can have momentum to effect change.

My plan in the first meaningful paragraph of this post to get out of debt would never be approved by my wife. Having just moved into a new house we have increased our mortgage, so I have done exactly opposite of the first recommendation.
With respect to #2, I will be starting this spring.
With respect to #3 a buddy of mine at work is like-minded and is ahead of me in #2, so at the moment we have a community of two people.

Anyhow, I have to go and figure out why sqlplus is putting in extra \r\n bytes in a single record out of around 20,000.

Winning $15 is better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

About the only things that grow well in my garden are herbs. I don't think I could survive on oregano and parsley.

Today is Friday. Have a good weekend Phil.
