My 5yo son played in his very first chess tournament today. He lost three but drew on two, so if this was a pro sports score he'd be 0-3-2. He is in a category of kindergarden, grades 1, 2 and 3, so as he was one of the youngest of all players, he didn't do too badly for not having lost all five of the games.

Hooray! Chess is a difficult game to excel in - and like many things in life, you've got to lose a few in order to really appreciate the wins!

Imagining a 5 year old getting a draw in chess - let alone 2 - is quite mind boggling!

Your 5 year old knows how to play chess?!?!?! Wow!! He must be quite the little strategist. I wonder if he ever uses that to his advantage at home... :)
