sloppy seconds, thirds, and sevenths

My son's school currently starts at 9:00AM and the school board has decided to change the start time next year to be 8:00AM. Some parents have started a petition to have the schedule remain the same (9:00AM). I, for one, prefer the earlier start as it will compel me to get out of the house earlier which usually sets me off to have a better day.

I just read the petition website, wow, what a bunch of complainers - kids are way more adaptable than their parents are.

Anyhow, today is the last day of May in the year 2010.

8:00 seems to be a good time. I know that usually the earlier I get to work the more productive I am.

I seem to recall I started high school at 9:45! That seems late but recent research indicates that teenagers need more sleep, between 9 to 11 hours! That's way more than I get now, but teens need the extra shut-eye for their growth and development. Pre-teens too I imagine!

In any case, parents have all summer long to help their kids adjust to the new time, and could try move back bedtime by one minute every day!

But then again - I'm certainly no expert!
