jump down towards the sky

Chickens in my back yard. Possibly in my life time.

I have contemplated going to my next town council meeting and bringing this up.

Would you have chickens in your back yard?

If you do not have a back yard, I'll give you a different question.

My next door neighbour had chickens in her back yard. When she went away on holidays I would look after them and was rewarded with fresh eggs each day. That was good.

Then another neighbour complained to the council about the noise and smell. According to the council by-laws the chicken coop must be 3 meters away from the fence and 3 meters away from the house. She did not have that much land so she had to tear the coop down. We immediately had a rat infestation. That was bad.

If that was the law here, my backyard is big enough so I could have them.

Hopefully the neighbours wouldn't complain.

I have had several friends who kept chickens, and thought them very nice animals to have around. I love really, really fresh, happy eggs.

If I had the space and time for them, I think I'd like to have chickens.
