kite flying at night
G-bot has his first hockey session this Saturday and then again on Sunday. C-ling has her last soccer games this Saturday and Sunday. This Friday (tomorrow) is our book group, we are supposed to have read 'The Girl Who Played With Fire' by Stieg Larsson. I read the book approximately eight months ago and have not had the time to reread it. My wife and I went over the major plot points last night to refresh my memory.
Currently I am reading 'The Blade Itself' by Joe Abercrombie. I am finding it rather compelling.
We have a wedding to go to on Saturday afternoon/evening, but apart from that we've got nothing else planned this weekend.

busy busy man.
While being in a book club holds some appeal, I am sure that if a book was set for me to read I would probably do all I could to avoid reading it.
When I was at school, I cannot tell you how many times I got detention and was forced to finish a book that was set for us, yet at home I was devouring classics, memoirs and the odd history book at a rate of about one a week.
A lot depends on the book - it is the book group members that decide what book is being read - so you submit a few books three or four times a year, and then we vote. It could be a book you chose is one of the books we'll read, and so would you avoid reading that? The other books we read could also be books you voted for, so why would you vote for a book that you would avoid reading?
