lack of somnambulation
When I go to sleep I usually lie on my back for one to five minutes, I find this helps to stretch out my back a little. I am not able to easily fall asleep in this position, however; invariably I turn over and am lying on my front and this is how I fall asleep normally with ease.
I've been wanting to train myself to fall asleep on my back as in the past, on the very rare occasion where this has happened, I felt much better in the morning. However, every night that I attempt to do this I eventually realize that I'd prefer to fall asleep sooner rather than try to wait to fall asleep while lying on my back.
Maybe tonight I will try.

I have on occasion, out of necessity, fallen asleep on my back. I prefer to fall asleep on my left side.
Oh, we all move about a lot while we sleep. Unless we have a heavy cat on our ankles or knees.
i can only sleep on my sides.
I usually sleep on my back, sometimes on my side, and never on my belly. I don't think I could sleep with my neck twisted to the side.
Sleeping on one's back supposedly makes snoring worse, according to this silly product:

Margot, My hubby sleeps on his back and the noise is unbelievable at times. It's a good thing that we have spare beds.
So I tried last night and did manage to sleep for a while but not long after woke up and then turned over. Maybe I won't bother with this after all.
Deb: If am lying on my side one of my arms invariably loses circulation.
Zhoen: Yes, the cat sleeps on me.
ghost: okay.
Margot: I've never been told that I am a snorer by people who have been in a position to know. Thus far I have had no neck malaise.
Deb: my father-in-law snores as you describe your husband does. It is rather impressive.
No matter how you like to sleep, having a good mattress is key.
rita: we got a new mattress last year and were thrilled with it. The difference in how well we slept was noticeable. Well, greatly improved for my wife, for me I have had little trouble sleeping throughout my life.
