being big or small

Sometimes I wonder about the variety of heights, weights and densities of people. In children it is especially noticeable when you put two kids who look to be pretty much the same size and yet you pick one up and he is noticeably heavier as compared to the other. Pretty miraculous, if you ask me.

Are really tall people as self conscious, on average, about their height as really small people? How is it that a wan delicate thin person can be equitable to a gregarious over weight carnivorous omnivore in the sense that all people should be treated and considered as equals?

I am shorter than the average Canadian Male, by an insubstantial amount, about 2% less than average.
I weigh less than the average Canadian Male, by a substantial amount, about 20% less than the average.

I am not at all self conscious about my height, weight or shoe size.

What about you?

Nope, but very tall people do come in handy sometimes. And very overweight people are difficult to care for properly in surgery. Very short people are good for going under.

I'm so utterly average in these terms, it's hard to be self-conscious in that way.

I have moments of personal self-consciousness, but normally, I notice it more so when I'm with my boyfriend.

I am less than the average height of women, at only 5'0". My boyfriend is less than average, too, around 5'6".

Sometimes, when we go out, and there are average to above-average taller men around, I notice how much shorter in height TN is.

(But then, he says something funny or looks at me in a certain way or we get in a conversation and he's a bigger and better man than any taller man I've dated.)

I also notice I'm very short when I have to reach something on the top shelf of my kitchen cupboard. I use a large knife to pry things off the top shelf. I'm convinced one day I will injure myself doing this.

zho; I can only imagine how hard it must be to move an incapacitated 365lb person onto an industrial capacity surgery table.

mesh; get a foldable step-stool to reach the high things.

Occasionally I notice tall people, or large people in positions of authority or power, perhaps a little more often than average and I wonder if part of the reason they got there is because they are taller or larger.

Phil,

365? Ok, big, no question. The beds these days are rated to 500 lbs usually, and I've seen people too big for them. Those are challenges.
