potential, real and no travel
It isn't 100% confirmed yet, but it should be early next week.
This is the minimum required:
YUL -> YVR -> SYD -> ADL April 11-13
ADL -> SYD -> YVR -> YUL April 21
This would cost around 2300$ paid for by UniSA.
But, I thought, wouldn't it be great to actually meet someone and maybe go for a bushwalk or see a few things with a native tour guide? Maybe even have a conversation of utter, utter drivel.
So,
Using one way flights:
YUL -> YVR -> SYD April 10-12
SYD -> BNE April 12
BNE -> ADL April 14
ADL -> SYD April 21
SYD -> YVR -> YUL April 21
This costs 4078$. I don't think UniSA would be so happy to pay that.
So then, how about a return flight YUL-SYD and all the smaller trips one way:
YUL -> YVR -> SYD April 10-12
SYD -> BNE April 12
BNE -> ADL April 14
ADL -> SYD April 21
SYD -> YVR -> YUL April 21
This costs 2760$. I might be able to make an arrangement where my company pays for the small difference between this and the trip direct to Adelaide.
Of course, it is rather presumptuous of me that I should anticipate being well received; this is why I don't name the someone at BNE so as to not single out anyone.
It would also be presumptuous of me to indicate that on March 11th I will arrive at Union station in Toronto at 21:41 and return home from Union station on March 15th on the train leaving at 17:00. During the daytime of those four days I will be training UofT, but will not have plans in the evenings.
Sadly, I haven't any trips to Texas in the foreseeable future, though if I did, I get the sense that wherever I'd be going would likely not be close to ghost town.
I also have no plans to go to St-Basile, but hopefully in the next few months I won't be able to make such plans.
Oh, and not to be exclusionary, there is another blogger out west who is a new homeowner who lives in an area I am not travelling to any time in the near future.

How exciting for you. Wouldn't talking utter utter drivel be wonderful? You are more than welcome to come and stay here for the night if you can wrangle it.
Word of warning. I see lots of travel. Lots and lots. Backtracking from Sydney to Brisbane will take at least an hour in the air and then double that with waiting in airports, plus over an hour in a car from Bris to Gold Coast. And then you will be traveling here during school holidays (chaotic).
It's a lot of extra travel when you consider you would have traveled 24hrs from Canada to Sydney. Not saying don't do it, just making you aware what you could be up for.
Thanks for the word of warning; I do not see another opportunity like this coming up any time soon. I already know you won't be too surprised if I arrive quite knackered.
There is still no guarantee - first I have to get confirmation from UniSA, and then get clearance for the approved extra expenditure.
I loved taking the train from Windsor to Toronto, or Stratford, and got to do it several times in my early years.
