milk trucks run amok
Yes, the Cinco de Mayo party was quite the success. We had an especially good turnout as the date fell on a Saturday. Even still I suspect we could have had a few more people but because it was a Saturday, they had already made plans.
I think a really great feature of this party is the fact that we allow children to come - a lot of the children just starting to play with each other, even some of the older ones in their young teens coalesced.
The food, as always, was good and plentiful, though because we only had one average sized BBQ, it took a while before all of the guests were satisfied.
We played a 'Human Bingo' game that got a few people to mix, though it didn't work so well because for some of the people who knew lots of others, they could fill out their bingo sheet without having to mix too much. If we do this game again, we will ask ours guests, in advance of the party, to give us an inconsequential but obscure fact about themselves that could be used for this game to make it harder. We'll also institute a few rules; can not repeat names, can not share results.
At the end we managed to get the telescope out and take a look at the full moon; at first it was cloudy so the moon wasn't clear, but later on the clouds broke up.
The Margaritas were quite popular and well received so there were quite a lot of 'happy' people with one or two that got to the point of embarrassing themselves. That is always entertaining.
Next year May 5th falls on a Sunday, we'll have to see how the turnout is.

awkward inebriated tom follery is often comical, if observed from a distance.
ghost, even if not at a distance it is comical.
My wife makes the Margaritas very strong, so one of the guests had only two and this really pushed her way beyond where she's ever been.
Tequila seems to have this effect on people.
When I was (much) younger I saw quite a number of friends come undone on tequila, so badly undone in fact, that I was decided never to drink the stuff.
I am curious as to why you would celebrate Cinco de Mayo when it is a Mexican celebration. Do you wish to become a Mexican?
Or have them swap made up facts, otherwise known as lies, so even the people who know each other will have to search around. Give some of them "lies" to tell, perhaps. Mixed in with their true obscure stories.
Next year we'll be there! Our little mouse was too, well, little to attend this time!
