commuting challenge
So yesterday I took the 5:00PM train home, along the way after the first three stops where most of the train receives passengers, rather than lets them off, we heard an announcement in the train that the train we were on was having mechanical problems.
We get to Lachine, which is the first stop after those first three, and would be the first stop that some passengers start to get off, and the announcement comes that this train will be stopped here for an indeterminate amount of time and that passengers are invited to get off the train, go to the other platform, and get on the next one.
Getting off the train was no problem, but getting to the other platform was not so easy. There is only one tunnel to get from platform two to platform one, wide enough for 2.5 people to pass through side by side, so it took maybe 25 minutes and a lot of herding to get all of the passengers from one side to the other.
Getting on to the next train wasn't so easy either. The 5:20 train was already full when it left those first three stations, and now you had pretty much an entire second train worth of passengers to fit on to it. This train was crowded unlike any train I have ever seen here. Every possible area of standing room was occupied.
After Lachine is Dorval, then Pine Beach and then Valois, where I get off. So I had only to endure three stops before I could get out of this super crowded train. I made my way to the exit door as soon as we started to pull away from Pine Beach, this ensured that I could actually get off the train without too much difficulty.
Yes, commuting on public transit can be an adventure some time.

You could have a good old heart to heart with Teeny Tiny on train travel. Last wee someone drove through a boom gate and the train was delayed for an hour and a half. She was not impressed.
There were quite a number of people that were similarly unimpressed on the day this happened. I just take it in stride, however; it is a situation totally out of my control, so why get anxious or upset about it?
I imagine this comes with a certain number of years of existence that perhaps TT doesn't quite yet have. Mind you, there are those even older than I who get upset over such trivialities.
It takes a lot to get Teeny Tiny upset, she usually laughs at life. In this case she called the person who drove into the boom gate an idiot and rolled her eyes when talking about the wait but that was the extent of it, not that upset at all.
Excellent to hear that she is that way... to be otherwise would shorten one's life.
we have a system in place in plano thatwill allow us to ruide the train around the dallas ft worth area. i ride it sometimes because the kids love it. it can be sketchy late at night though.
