calamity, being a pidgeon

We had a cold spell today, the temperature didn't get much warmer than -7C with most of the day hovering closer to -10C.

I bought some lottery tickets for tonight's Loto-Max draw. This lottery, when it reaches the jackpot of 50,000,000, instead of the jackpot going higher, additional numbers are drawn for multiple draws of 1,000,000. Tonight there are 15 additional draws.

If I won the jackpot, lots of things would change.

If I won one of the 1,000,000 draws, I would:
Pay off the mortgagee
Max out my RRSPs (retirement plan)
Save for sending my kids to private high schools
Pay for a number of renovations in the house
Buy an electric car
Install a geothermal heat pump
Get myself a Volksgarden.

This would leave a little more than a quarter of a million dollars left to do some travelling, perhaps buy an A-Liner... either way not enough for me to quit my job.

Of course the chances of me winning even a free ticket (the most easily won prize) are fairly slim. Still, every once in a while it isn't so bad to think about how things could be different.

I would buy an A-Liner too. I think that would be neat.

when personifying Calamity, i never considered a pigeon as a suitable form. i will rethink my stance on the subject.
