So, once a year the fishing club to which my father-in-law is a member has an ice fishing tournament. This took place last Sunday on a warmish, snowy winter day.

Here is C-ling pulling V-8 on a sled.

C-ling eventually got tired of pulling V-8.

Here is the wide expanse of the St. Lawrence river, which at this point is also called Lac St. Louis.

Turning north we can see more of the ice and the ice fishing action.

That's my father-in-law in the hat, G-bot is crouched in the blue coat in front of him, and that's a friend of the kids in the pink and brown.

Here's a closeup of the contraption used to catch the fish. The line goes down through the hole into the water below the ice; if a fish bites, it will pull the line which will rotate the vertical axle which will release the flag indicating to us above that there is some action there.

None of the flags went up during the whole time we were there.

I'd get tired of always pulling the sled, and never getting pulled myself.

Lovely kids.

I pulled G-bot, C-ling and V-8 a number of times around, as can be seen on the photo of the lake, in the foreground you can see all of the tracks. The kids had lots of fun, that's why they look so cheery.

Looks like lots of fun to me. Too bad about the fish, maybe they decided to swim to warmer waters.
