So, fitting the fridge in has been solved.


They took the gyproc off the new wall they built, butted up a new beam right up against an existing beam which widened the opening sufficiently for the fridge. To do this, however, they need to build a box that eats up space in the dead-end hallway.


Here's a closeup of the top part of the opening - mostly to show how the beams all work out.


Here on the hallway side we get an idea of what the box size will be into the hallway space.


And the cutout on the carpet on the floor tells the story too.


So now it is closed in.


Come out a little and you can see that the wall has started to be finished with the joinery compound.


And the box is being finished on the dead-end hallway side.


It isn't easy to tell in this photo, but the box they built comes right up against the hinge of the door to the closet under the stairs with not even a millimeter to put in a molding around the frame of the door.
