I'm keen to log the daily changes of the kitchen from old to new, so please bear with the posts here for the next few weeks. The photos below are from day zero - all of the cabinets have been emptied and the appliances removed. I took the photos this morning.
The pot here has to go back to my mother-in-law, so soon after this photo was taken, it was put into the car.
Our lunch bags on the floor, ready to go.
Here it isn't easy to see, but the china cabinet in the dining room has been emptied of all of the glass and crystal ware so that any of the vibrations of the work do not disturb them. You can also see the cavity where the fridge was.
Where the stove was, and the stuff around the sink was taken into the basement a few minutes later.
The milk and three bowls of cereal for us (G-bot, C-ling and myself) and Leo in the back. The top drawer is missing - this was our cutlery drawer and I just took the whole cutlery drawer into our basement where our temporary kitchen is. Also, you can see the space where the dishwasher was.
We met with the workers today, Alex and George. They will be removing all of the cabinetry today and will start to take off the ceramic tile floor.

I'm going to enjoy seeing the changes.
My sister & I have been nagging our mother into getting a new kitchen. She was resistant at first but she's slowly coming around. Maybe I will get some ideas from your renovation.
Quite an undertaking. How long do you anticipate it to take?
Already looks brighter.
Deb; thanks for letting me know it is okay to provide day by day images.
Mesh, indeed it is. They project managers of the work are estimating 4 weeks with a temporary counter installed at the end, with the real counter to come afterwards as they will want to get exact measurements of the finished surface before ordering the counter top.
Zhoen, we're closing the patio door, so actually, it is going to get darker; however, the adjacent room to which we are opening brings in a lot of light, so we'll have to see how that compensates.
