So is there a corollary that each effort is worth a penny?
A penny isn't worth a penny. Not with copper the price it is.
Here in Canada we've done away with the penny. Electronic transactions still go to the penny, but cash transactions round to the nearest 5 cents.
We also round down to 5 cents in Australia, but you probably knew that.
