When you're given lemons, break a pencil into two unequal pieces.
Normally you'd say 'break a pencil in half' but how often, when breaking a pencil, does it end up being two pieces of exactly equal length?
Last year at this time of year it was also December. I should know.

I know you can't break a piece of dry spaghetti in half. It snaps in threes, at least.
Figured out, I'm not even getting an extra day off for Christmas, since Wednesday is my usual day off.
You'd think that if your regular day off is Wednesday which is a Holiday, they'd give you the holiday on a different day. By the sounds of your comment, I guess that isn't the case. I'd say get a new job, but you seem to be mostly pleased about the job you have.
My company closes from the 24th to the 1st inclusive. I have taken the 23rd as a vacation day, so my last day of work until Jan 2 is the 20th.
It's been awhile since anyone gave me lemons. I juiced them. I don't think I've ever bothered breaking a pencil in two.
My son eats lemons. I don't.
It has been a long time since I've broken a pencil willingly.
I ate lemons as a kid, loved 'em.
