when timing is everything I push asunder the depth

I do not tend to do much for myself, living mostly for others. Occasionally I'll take some time, here and there, in little bits and pieces.

I decided I would celebrate my 41st birthday this summer in a grand way with a very detailed plan I have been working on. I didn't celebrate my 40th and generally don't celebrate my birthdays at all as I do not find turning a year older by the flip of the page-a-day calendar is any different from the other page-a-days. But I thought, why not have a party one time in my life that I can invite my friends and have lots of fun. So I picked June 13th as it is a prime number (13, and 613) and I had sent a 'Save the date' message on Jan 13 (13 and 113 are both prime) and I sent it at 13:27 (while 27 is not prime, 127 is and 1327 is). My plan was to make large poster boards of small prime numbers, smaller paper sized prime number printouts of larger prime numbers, ask people to bring 7, 11, 13 or 17$ per person or couple to help offset the costs of decorations, lighting, the book of blog posts I am preparing and other things. I was going to set the invitation time to be at 8:39PM (839 and 2039 are both prime).

This evening I received an email from the catechist organizing the confirmation of G-bot with 'good news'. The auxiliary bishop is going to do the confirmation of G-bot's group on June 14th at 1:00PM with a rehearsal on June 13th at 7:00PM. I mention this to my wife that 'I guess I'll have to move the party to the 14th' (not prime); and she then mentions that we'd have a post confirmation party at our house that would obviate my planned party.

I'm quite upset by this as the previous weekend is too close to a vacation we have planned in the last week of May, and the weekend after which would technically be closer to my birthday, is approaching the holidays of end of school, Féte de St-Jean and so on.

A growing nodule in my psyche is clamouring to abandon. A weaker cyst is saying push it to the 21st (not prime) of June and whoever can come will come.

It's considered very much a bad thing to ask guests to defray the cost of a party/wedding.

Other than that, the numbers would be fun. But kids come first, as you already know.

What's your next prime?
