curt premonition

I went to my manager's office this morning to talk to him about something, his door was open, he was typing something so I sat and waited for him to finish. He asked me in that way that people sometimes do to check something they already know, 'Tomorrow's Tuesday, right?' - I answered in the affirmative. Then I got a kick at the idea that I should then have returned directly to my desk as if the whole intention of my visit was to be there simply to answer his question about what day of the week it would be. I ended up staying to discuss with him what I needed to, but if this situation were to present itself again, maybe I would do it.
