wrist watches unite! If only they knew the time

More and more it is looking bad for Tom Mulcair. It's too bad as I think he would have made a terrific PM on the world stage.

We only have the untested Justin Trudeau now to go up against the dastardly Stephen Harper. I hope that we end up with a Liberal Majority, but it looks like it may end up as a Liberal minority.

Of course, that doesn't mean much to you non-Canadians, but we've had minority governments here (both federally and provincially) quite a few times over the last decade or two. They aren't pretty in terms of how much gets accomplished during their term.

This is by no means a political blog, but in election campaigns I can't help but get involved and read up about what is going on. For those who eschew the democratic process I feel they have no right to complain.

I do, of course, understand that in many cases lobbyists have more influence than votes do; however, this is less of a problem here in Canada than it is in other jurisdictions (namely, south of the border). Or perhaps I am naive to believe so.

The election is now less than two weeks away. It will be nice, at least, to be done with this election campaign, what has been the longest in Canadian history. I sincerely hope that future election campaigns go back to the thirty-odd days that campaigns have gone in the past.

dastardly - adjective das·tard·ly \-lē\
: very cruel : using tricks to hurt people

eschew - verb es·chew \e-ˈshü, i-; es-ˈchü, is-; also e-ˈskyü\
: to avoid (something) especially because you do not think it is right, proper, etc.

Sadly our ex-prime minister thought Stephen Harper was the ants pants and wanted to emulate him. Poor old Tony Abbot was delusional to the point that he thought his party supported him. They didn't. Now he sits all forlornly in the back benches and watches his 'mate' Malcolm Turnbull leading the way. Already he (Turnbull) has given the go ahead to even more coal mining to a company (Adini) who has a track record with destroying the environment. Boo to that. Boo to the new Prime Minister. We should be investing in clean energy.

And that is the end of my rant.
