take to two

Last night was our Kurzgesagt second Mount Royal walk and it was in the evening/night.

We were much lower in number, with only six in the group, which I actually find to be a perfect number that allows for all of us in one conversation, or, splitting up into pairs. There were 16 people signed up to attend, five commented in the group at nearly the last minute that they were unable to come, which was nice of them, leaving only a few no-shows.

From the previous day there were three repeats (in addition to me); there was the same N and E couple and H who I hadn't mentioned previously. In addition to us four was G and L.N, E and G are originally from Ontario, L from Asia (I was talking just with H at the time I scarcely overheard him saying where he was from specifically) and H is from France and California.

Going at night is a very different experience. Most of the walk after the first half hour, as the sun was setting, was unlit. It wasn't a problem for the most part, though for a little while it was a bit dangerous as we were not lit and cyclists were racing down opposite to us. At the end, going down the stairs was a bit sketchy, so for the next walk I'll pick a different route that avoids the stairs.

For part of the walk I made use of my random question generator: tree climbing or cave exploring, red or the number 17, hand gliding and something else, an inane question, Capitalism vs Socialism, unlimited budget where would you travel.

There were others, I can't remember all that I asked. When I asked the red/17 question, G had left by that time, so it was me and four others, two answered 17 and two answered red and none of them could really explain why they chose how they chose.

For the unlimited budget travel question, N answered he'd go to the end of the universe. I got a a laugh out of that answer.

At one point I mentioned, speaking with G and H, that I was wanting to do this weekly, as it is only with frequent getting together that friendships can form, they agreed.

My next event is ping pong at Parc Laurier on Saturday. There are only four of us signed up for this, I really hope at least one of them shows up as it is a trek for me to get there.
