when celebrationists count to couch
I've accepted a job offer for a WFH position with Wolters Kluwer; I start May 9th.
This job meets all of the major and minor criteria that I had set.
I will earn double what I am currently earning at Alorica but 5/7ths of what I was earning at Explorance; this is fine and meets my needs.
The job is a more civilized support position with a 35 hour work week that is Mon-Fri generally between 8h30 and 18h. Some Saturdays of overtime will be required at a few peak periods during the year and that is easily tolerable.
That it is WFH means I have no commute or associated work out of home expenses; though it was explained to me that perhaps once a year, possibly more than once a year, our office would get together, most specifically for the annual Christmas party, and possibly for other reasons at other times. The WK satellite office from which I will be working is in Sherbrooke which fortunately is easy to get to by inter-city bus.
It is a bilingual position which, thanks to Alorica, I had more confidence in applying to. During the hiring manager interview it was explained that perhaps 35% of calls/emails/chats will be in French while 65% will be in English. I am quite happy with this ratio. At Alorica it is 80%/20% favouring French.
Also, it was explained that about half are procedural (how to use the software) and the other half are technical (the software isn't working as expected) and that is also a ratio I really like.
Just this morning I signed and sent the offer document so it is official. I will be a probationary employee for the first six months; from past experience this has never been a problem (to pass the probationary period) but I hope that continues to hold true for me.
A few things that I had started doing on my Alorica weekend of Tuesday-Wednesday I will now need to move back to what everyone else considers weekends; or move them to evenings.
