two thousand and box
Yesterday and today the REM is free to use from 9h to 19h after Friday's media and dignitary first run with this new light rail phase one going live and operational tomorrow. Phase one includes Central Station and all stations south of there excluding the Griffintown one that the station isn't ready yet.
As it was free to use I made a plan yesterday to take my regular train into the city, then walk to Central Station, take the REM to Du Quartier stop, walk to McDo to eat, then return home in exact reverse order of transit steps named.
When I arrived at Central Station there was a queue of thousands of people snaking through the station who were aiming to get on a REM train. This REM experience wasn't important enough for me to wait in a line of people that would have taken a few hours to eventually board, so I ended up leaving the station, walking around the city, having lunch in the city and then taking my regular train home.
At some time in the future I will do the same plan I outlined above only paying the fare as it will no longer be free.
