that it isn't known, or

Last week our prime minister Mark Carney delivered an historic speech that I needed to listen to numerous times to catch everything he intended for us to understand.

My best interpretation is that Canada as a middle power, is becoming a leader of other middle power countries, to band together to face the unfair and unbalanced situations that the hegemons have over us.

We, as middle power countries, will form parternships and mutli-laterals, so as to make each of us less reliant on the relationships we have with the hegemons so that the hegemons have less power to make us subserviant.

Though the felon Cheetoh Buffoon was never named, that idiot is the impetus for the speech. Most interpretations are that this speech is specifically in answer to him, however, I interpret it to also mean China. In the previous week Carney signed an agreement with China to allow 49000 Chinese made EVs into Canada in exchange for lowering significantly the tariffs they had placed on Canadian agricultural products.

Some are concerned that allowing China a foot in the door could eventually mean China floods our market, however, using a 49k quota, instead of a simple tariff, seems to be a better solution. This number of incoming cars is less than 3% of Canada's car purchase annual number. And honestly, their BYD sub 30k$ EVs are filling a market that has no equivalent here in Canada.

Ontario's premier Doug Ford has called these 'Spy Cars' indicating that they will pass all sorts of data to China. I think this is ridiculous; many cars have cameras now to help with backing up, with keeping the distance from the car in front while in cruise control, and so on.

Parliament resumes on Monday, tomorrow, the new session to begin. It is still a Liberal minority government with just two additional MPs needed to get a majority. Rumour has it, based on what I have seen on Power & Politics, that it is possible one, two or three more CPC members will floor cross, giving the LPC the majority. This may only happen somehow in coordination with the CPC convention and leadership review happenening later this month. If it doesn't happen I suspect we may have a federal election in 2026 which I think is a terrible idea given we are to negotiate CUSMA this summer.
