you can bet on it

Slideways is not so much a direction as it is a form of perambulatory motion. It could also be conceived of as a sense of poise in action, a moving poise of quality and style. To saunter slowly slideways is to move softly into a scene to be enveloped by the welcoming aura of others. To move slideways provides a gait that is like languid liquid, with a sense of awe of the people nearby which is felt by them in the manner of slideways motion.

When was the last time you moved slideways?

Never. I'm tall and gawky with long arms & big feet. I move like a giraffe and believe me giraffes do not move slideways.
