hotdogs at the Zamboni races

A miasmic silence billowed throughout the range; amidst the fluttery birds a gargantuan monolithic shape made slow progress.

What is it? she asked.

Zamboni - An ice resurfacing machine invented by Frank Zamboni over 60 years ago.

See, I learned something from you today Phil. I don't expect it will stay in my brain for very long seeing as how I have no need for an ice resurfacing machine.

My son has hockey practices two to four times a week, and each time we go, I see the Zamboni in action. Practices always start on the hour and end ten minutes before the next hour. During the last ten minutes of each hour the Zamboni resurfaces the ice.

I had a vision once of putting a bunch of Zambonis on a frozen lake, drawing markers to make an oval course, and have them race.

Needless to say, any vision you would ever have would not include a frozen lake.

Miasmic is an excellent word.
