So, there's a long story about me switching departments at work that I don't want to blog about, however, one of the last things for me to do in the department from which I am moving is to train the College of the North Atlantic here in Newfoundland. I flew in to St. John's (the capital of Newfoundland) early today and tomorrow I will be driving to Grand Falls/Windsor, where the training will take place. I will spend the rest of the week there and fly home from Gander on Friday. Below are some photos I've taken since arriving. Remember that you can click on each image to get a bigger version.

I drove from the airport directly to Signal Hill. This is a view from the top out towards the ocean.

If I walk to the other side of the hill, I can look down on St. John's.

Here, you can see the road that leads to the top. Near the center of the photo is a glass faced building with a blue roof. I had intended on going there but there was a problem with my rental car that had me spend time that prevented me from going.

I've narrowed in on the boat in this photo; right at the top of the masts of this boat is a blue building; this is the hotel I am staying at.

This is the tower at the top of Signal Hill.

This is another view from the top of the hill looking in a different direction. To the right of the image is the view that shows the boat in a previous photo.

As I was starting to head out I noticed this house in an unlikely location. But then, there is a lighthouse there and the people tending to the lighthouse needed to live somewhere.

Finally, near the parking lot at the top was this sign that is fairly common for sites like this.

I then checked in to the hotel and after that walked around the town a little bit. Walking along Water street I saw these boats all moored.

Here's another one.

And here's another.

St. John's is known for the colourful houses. I didn't really get a good shot of them, but here are a few attempts.

Here is a war memorial.

And here is a closeup of one of those circles.

Tomorrow I'll be doing that drive and I'll be leaving early in the morning because there is some weather coming to Newfoundland. A mixture of rain, freezing rain and/or snow; they aren't sure what the temperature will be; should start around midday. Google says it should take a little over four hours to do the drive, so if I leave at 7:30, I should be fine. Then I can have a nap at the hotel once I get there.

I don't know how photogenic Grand Falls/Windsor will be, if I can get any photos from there, I'll be sure to post them.

The photos at Signal Hill were with my Canon A560, the ones in town are with my LG-C800G. My mobile seems to do a pretty good job with the pictures.
