Of course the Phoenix is ebullient. Why else would he rise? I had to look up ebullient.

d: he might rise for a variety of other reasons, including stealth.
he rises because you cant keep a flaming bird down. damn the man!
It is less about keeping him down than the ever present surprise that he comes back at all.
