Curling and Hockey
Both curling and hockey are fairly significantly followed and participative sports here in Canada. There are hockey arenas and curling clubs scattered all over the country in a pretty high frequency. This means that as a pool of competitors for curling and hockey we have a large number from which to draw the very best. Our men's and women's teams in curling both have made it to the Gold medal match which take place tomorrow and the day after at the Olympics. The Canadian women's hockey team has also made it to the Gold medal match. The Canadian's men's hockey team has it tougher because quite a few other countries have strong men's hockey leagues and so the competition is fiercer. Even still, our men's hockey team advanced to the semi-final game in a nail-biting 2-1 win over Latvia today, an unlikely quarter-finalist.

Used to watch curling on the Windsor CBC station. No idea what the rules were, but I loved the old brooms.
The rules are fairly simple - the team that at the end of the end has the rock closest to the center counts points, and the number of rocks of their own colour that is closest to the winning one before the closest of the opponent also count. My two oldest kids are in a kids curling league in our local club. My son also played hockey for four seasons but doesn't any longer.
Bocce ball on ice, yes, but there has to be strategy and finesse, doesn't there?
