So Quebec is going back to curfew even though there is little evidence this has any meaningful impact on infection rates. The omicron variant is very fast moving in terms of infectiousness and so the hospitalization rate is rather extreme at the moment worrying governmental officials that our capacity to care for citizens will be stretched beyond a reasonable limit.

This variant is purported to be less severe in terms of its effects on people, but with a much higher percentage of even doubly-vaxxed people getting infected, it means even a small percentage of people can represent a lot of people.

Today is the last day of 2021, this might mean something to someone, but to me it simply means I'm a little bit past the midpoint of my current trip around the sun.
