that it wasn't two, or maybe
So I've discovered this game, Foundation: Galactic Frontier. I saw the ads for it on YouTube for a week or two and then decided to download it to my laptop and start playing it. It is loosely based on the Foundation series from Isaac Asimov, but also taking some elements from the AppleTV+ TV show rendition of same.
It has been fun to read about Hari Seldon, Bel Riose, The Mule and a few other characters and place names. The game is set in the Korell collection of solar systems perhaps 100 years after Terminus is first settled. There is an adversary group called the Ascendancy and we (the players) as Traders have to fight them off while we also do our job of trading.
There are in-app purchases that could help speed along different aspects of the game, but it can be played (as I have been) without spending any money at all.
I am not a video game player by any stretch of imagination, but this game has been intriguing with a complexity that has kept me engaged since I downloaded it about ten days ago. Part of the game involves joining a guild - this is actually optional within the game, but there are definite advantages to doing so.
The guild I chose to join just randomly from a list has as leader a young woman living in Perth, Australia. I know this about her because we started chatting through the game, and then moved our chat to Discord so as to have an easier time of chatting.
With the exception of the Resources mobile game that I have been on for almost three years now, this may be the longest I've played any video game in my life, having attempted others in the past and having lost interest somewhere along the way. We shall see if I eventually lose interest in this one.
