when the chicken fried herring was baked

I've been writing a review of my time at the conference and have told a few people that I would post here in detail and then send them the link when it is done.

I've written already 3655 words and it turns out that at least part of what I am writing I won't end up publishing here; even if I have an infinitesimal readership count.

Here is a snippet:

On Thursday night we had an option to attend either a Murder Mystery night or a Casino Night; I chose the latter, and during the casino night, this happened...

I left the craps table and wandered over to the Roulette table where I saw a small group of youngish people that were having fun. I went to join them and watched as the next number came up and the winners were paid and the losers weren’t. Just as I was getting my chips to participate with them, they all decided to move on to another game. It is impetuous to draw the conclusion that they left because I joined, but honestly, if they had had enough of the game and were moving on, purely coincidental with my arrival, there is nothing to be assumed by their behaviour. I ended up sticking around anyhow and soon after ‘S’ joined me and the two of us proceeded to lose our chips at this table.
