twice the inadequate

There is a provincial election happening presently here in Quebec. Here are the results of my electoral district as at last election:

As you can see, Greg Kelley of the Liberal party of Quebec won quite handily.

This was not the case province-wide; the Coalition Avenir du Quebec won a majority of electoral districts and so formed the majority government. Polling suggests that their popularity has not waned and will likely form the next majority government again. Here are the province wide results from the last election:
While the Liberals and the Parti Quebecois in the past would trade off on governing the province, the question of Quebec Separation has now been so thoroughly shelved that the idea of it is nowhere and so the meaningfulness of these two parties has lessened. This has opened up the door for Quebec Solidaire and the Conservative party to gain ground. Those four alternative parties are fighting for the remnant voters who aren't voting CAQ.

With respect to climate change policy, none of these five parties have committed to anything close enough to what is needed as per the IPCC. QS comes closest, but they have other policies on language that I do not agree with. The Green Party of Quebec has the climate action plan that meets IPCC requirements, but support for that party is spread throughout the province but in low enough numbers that they don't stand a chance gaining a single seat within the government.

There is more I can write about this, but I think this is enough. October 3rd is election day, so in about 10 days we'll know what the next assembly will look like.
